Our First Christmas

The funny story behind "our first Christmas" is that we celebrated it last year.  HA.  Brian in all of his romantical thoughtfulness bought me an ornament last year that said "Our First Christmas 2011". I loved that present!  Because it was true it was our first Christmas together.  Most people purchase that ornament their first year of marriage but our ornament is more special than yours because it was our legit first Christmas.  This is our first Christmas married and living in the same house and actual state.  So here are some of our beautiful Christmas decorations.  Wish you all were here celebrating with us.

The stairs leading to our apartment are adorned with lights!  After Brian hung them our downstairs neighbor's kids kept bugging their parents to hang lights.  (oops)

The window snowflakes traveled with me to NY.  In all honesty the middle window is giving us some grief.  I've probably rehung those twice a day since I put them up.  No matter the amount of tape I put on them they will not stay!

Our tree!  It is sparse with ornaments and garland.  Next year the garland will come.  Let's talk about tree toppers... where did all the cute ones go? I can't find one anywhere.  So out of protest we are going naked on top! (The tree not us!)

Our kitchen.  It is the thorn in my side.  It gets no natural light, has funky colored cabinets and counters and I cannot find a color to paint it.  We went white (BLEK) but spiced it up with a chalkboard wall!  Countdown to Christmas and Brian's list.  Brian's job is marking off days and then his delight is shouting at the top of his lungs how many days left till Christmas.  The first day went something like this:   Me: "why are you marking off days in white when there is red and green chalk?  His response "there is red and green chalk?"  Me: "Yes, what colors do you see in front of you?" Brian: "I"m color blind!".... oops :)

Our first nativity.  Thank you Shaaks!  We loved this!  It is from Haiti.  You cant see it but this one little guy has a shive (lol just in case an animal gets crazy around baby Jesus).

Cyber Monday I have fallen in love with you!  Lowe's on cyber Monday has crazy deals.  Order online pick up same day in the store.  $1 poinsettias and $5 REAL garland.  Yes please! All we need are some stockings.

We are excited to be beginning traditions of our own and carrying over the treasured traditions we grew up with!  20 days till Christmas!

Love the decorations! I got a new tree topper last year, a pretty start from Walmart, that I added lights to so it would light up. And I loved when you said all you need are stockings. Our first Christmas I bought two stockings from Walmart. They don't necessarily match, one is Santa, one is Frosty, but they were ours. We still use them!
