Midge is 17!!!!!!

Today's post is all thing MIDGLET!  She is 17 today which doesn't even seem possible.  Luckily she is getting older but I haven't changed a bit (best of both worlds).

First I start with her name change.  Over the years, mostly when she was in grade school, I needed something to nickname her.  Every big sis gives the little one a nickname out of torment love and respect. First I started with "little person".  She was so much younger and smaller than me that it was an obvious choice.  It was a little long so it quickly turned into "LP".  Midge in all her wit and humor at an early age caught on quickly and learned that if she was "lp" then I was "bp", which stands for big person, I couldn't have that.  Well played Midge.  Well played.  That nickname left as quick as it came for my own rep and in settled Midget.  Which was of course shortened to Midge.  That name has stuck and been the only thing that I've called her since.

This is probably what Midge may be best known for.  Every year on our annual camping trip she hacks I mean chops a piece of wood for us.  Well this and her annual fireworks dance which entails she heats up two sticks at night then removes them and uses the smoke/fire to dance around for us.  Classic Midge.

She is also known for taking an every day classic in the moment shot and posing.  You can NEVER catch her off guard.  Seriously just when you think you may have caught her naturally... you realize NOPE she posed!

Trips to Berdines, the movies where she eats so much popcorn she gets sick, and countless hours playing games.

Over the years camping with Midge has changed.  She has taken to the rustic lifestyle that we live for a long weekend and it was the most fun thing to watch last year when my Uncle David was on his cell phone during a hike.  SOMMERVILLE FAMILY RULE NUMBER 1: TURN OFF THE CELL PHONE!
Midge was the first and most disgusted that he was on his phone.  Which is light years from where we begin and her walking around going: "Can you hear me now?"

I have countless stories of the times Midge and I have laughed till tears, funny things she does and says, times we have gotten in fights.  Awww the good ole days!  LOL.  You know though I can't imagine, LITERALLY CANNOT IMAGINE my family without her.  I love her!  Happy Birthday Midge!
