Last night we celebrated Passover Seder. Amazing evening! Pictures to come. This morning we were sitting around the table here at the CPL discussing everyday things such as : what is your favorite thing about the Lord? Love that question. Gets to the innermost part of your heart stat!
My favorite thing? NOTHING IS UNINTENTIONAL! Nothing happens that God goes," oops didn't see that coming", or "huh that didn't really serve a purpose did it? Interesting." I got to see this again last night as we gathered around the Seder table. For thousands of years the Israelites celebrated Passover. They have very specific things they do. In Leviticus 16 they sacrificed the lamb, Aaron, the high priest, would then dip his finger in the lamb's blood and go into the Holy of Holies and sprinkle it 7 times on the mercy seat of the ark of the covenant.
Ready for this?
Jesus shed His blood 7 different times in the process of dying.
1. He bled in the garden of Gathsemane
2. He bled at the whipping post
3. He bled from the crown of thorns
4. He bled when His hands were pierced
5. He bled when His feet were pierced
6. He bled when His side was pierced
7. He bled internally scripture states: "He was bruised for our iniquities" Isaiah 53:5
So we drink from the cup of redemption. Knowing full well that we have been redeemed by the blood of the Lamb!
Jesus was at this point in the Passover Seder when He was with His disciples Luke 22:20 "Likewise He also took the cup AFTER supper, saying " This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you."
He was at the cup of redemption when He said "My blood, which is shed for you."
NOTHING IS UNINTENTIONAL
Next year, maybe Jerusalem!
