“How will this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?”
The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God. Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be unable to conceive is in her sixth month. For no word from God will ever fail.”
“I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” Then the angel left her.
Luke 1:34-38
Mary had just been told that she was to give birth to Christ, her first reaction? How? (I've never done this before.) What is the angel's response... Oh you aren't going to do anything "The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you."
Exposed! It is what I have become. Some where along the way I stopped letting the Lord overshadow me. I think it originally started with a great idea, so knowing all of my greatness, darted out ahead a little bit. Just that little bit was enough, it left me exposed and undershadowed.
Not only did those words LEAP off the page and straight into my heart but there is a tie for the best section of the scripture... wait for it...
"For no word from the Lord will ever fail."
This is amazing for multiple reasons but I'll just give you one thing to chew on... John 1. The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. Christ will never fail us. His words will never fail us, lead us astray, the only thing they will do is let the Holy Spirit sink into us and OVERSHADOW US.
O Lord overshadow me!
