Too friendly?

There are situations and moments that I get myself into that I wonder why did that person tell me that.  These situations usually involve people I barely know telling me WAY too much information.  I have been in an ongoing predicament for a few months now.  I like to make sure everyone feels acknowledged, noticed, and appreciated.  It breaks my heart to know that some people are never said hello to or never told thanks for all you do.  So I make a point to make sure I "see" people.  I enjoy each morning and night when I go to work to say hello to the security guards.  One night during the cherished holiday mall season it was super late and I was up on like the 5th floor (creepy), surprisingly I always over estimate my fighting skills and I walk into the garage late, and through sketchy parts of it a lot by myself (PLEASE DO NOT SEND TIPS ON THIS),   so I was needing to go up to 5 and it was late and for some reason I didn't want to walk alone.  I called security right before we closed and they met us at the store and walked me to my car.  I really appreciated that they were willing to do this for us so the next day I bought cookies and gave them as a thanks for all you do.  Well apparently my thanks translated to Adrienne's got a crush.  Now all the mall security guards (at night) know who I am.  One in particular, who will remain nameless, comes by the store all the time, asks if I need him to walk me to my car, wants to know what I've done with every second of my life since the last time he spoke to me. Oh don't get me wrong he is super sweet and I do appreciate him I just don't want to date him.

Needless to say here is where it got me too much information.  Yesterday one of the older guards was walking by me after I went to the bank.  I said good morning (by name because yes I know all their names now) and we started chatting as we walked.  Before I know it we are from how was your weekend to this guy's neck was in my face!  He had shoved his neck in front of my nose and said "Hey I'm wearing new cologne what do you think?"  What do I think? I think I'd like you to get your neck out of my face! haha.  I stumbled to form words and said "oh  my that is nice".  He proceeded to tell me that he had just put it on in Macy's and that it was $75 a bottle but he would just go in there every morning and put it on.    (Which is a  bright idea, I wouldn't pay $75 for perfume).  Needless to say I scanned the mall for my quickest exit route and made the break at the split.  hahaha.  I love it!  Saying hello to everyone is TOTALLY worth it not only do they feel loved and appreciated I get to laugh at funny stories of how I end up in neck smelling circumstances with a stranger.

Make sure you say hi to someone you don't know today....  but don't say hi too closely they may ask you what you think of their new cologne.    :)

Loved this post. We definitely do a lot of "ni hao-ing" over here...thankfully for me, if anyone tries to tell me too much info, I can't understand them! Love you! (PS-thanks for the 'overshadow me' blog as well...my prayer as well.)
