I'll try to keep his blog short but in a nut shell... I'm a daddy's girl.
Sam is a dream boat! Grandfather maybe handsome but dad, so I've been told by countless women in my life is the bees knees. While dad may be dreamy to some he is my real life knight in shining armor. He has slayed many dragons for me, trained me to fight them off myself, and has filled more shoes than he should have had to. I will admit this only once, we fight occasionally only because I am exactly like him! He has let me cry over boys without saying I could you so, even if he wanted to. He always has held me to a much higher standard then I want to hold myself and he dreams big for me but also lets my dreams get bigger or take a different path than those he had. He is my ultimate cheerleader and will never let me slack even if thats all I want to do.
Favorite memories with this guy:
-He always played at the pool, from marco polo, to the diving board, to red rover.
-Bear Hunting!!! Best game ever!
-Cow, Horse, Dog!!! 2nd best game!
-PTL his ankles pop
-BBQ chicken, his secret recipe, homemade ice cream, and Dutchess bakery birthday cakes. (Thanks John for ruining the BBQ Chicken nights)
-His love for the Sound of Music
-Giant snowstorm: countless hours building and hollowing out an igloo and his terror of me being crushed by the 1/4 inch of snow when it caved :)
-Our biggest and best fight (on the way to Mary's wedding) seriously top 10 memory- still brings tears of laughter
-When he sent me a birthday card from my cat with Paris' paw prints in ink as her signature
-Lightening Wolf- Enough Said.
-Our love for Alaska
-How he always answers the phone the EXACT same way.... you know the way.
-Or how he calls and says hello adrienne this is your dad Sam. (as if I didn't know!)
-Summer thunderstorms on the porch
-In all of his offices, present day included, he still has my grade school turtle (out of a butter dish) and faded construction paper bird that I made.
-He fought for me when I had given up!
Needless to say this guy has set the bar high and I enjoy waiting for the one who will meet it.
