On Saturday my fabulous friend Melissa came down to stay the night, hit up the high school cheerleading competition, and have some serious fun. Melissa is on YL staff in Bridgeport (we don't just randomly go to cheerleading competitions). After the competition was over she graciously came over to the Santens to hang out with us until Matt and Stacy got home from their trip away. We were playing a great game of Uno when Will decided Melissa's new name should be.... Baby Girl. It was hilarious! Then we came to my house for a home cooked meal, and great conversation. One of the things I love most about Melissa is that great conversation is never in short supply. She asks great questions all the time, and always calls me out when I'm sharing something I've learned or something neat I've heard she always says " Thats great but realistically how are you going to apply that to your life?" I hate the question but love it all at the same time- so important to have someone in your life that loves you enough to give you the tools for realistically put something into practice.
Ben and Laura came over last night for a game night with Melissa and I (I wish I would have taken pictures... one day I'll actually use my camera). Ben and Laura brought the old school game of "SORRY". Which I hadn't played since I was little and at my grandparents in Beckley. Laura won- which I'm still kind of bitter about- she was sneaky about it... we'd all be talking and then it would be your turn, draw a card and look at the board to move your player and they would mysteriously be back in start and Laura would be on your spot. Sneaky! Sneaky! After "Sorry" we played a short couple rounds of "Mad Gab" which is one of my favorite games because you are promised a lot of laughter.
It was a wonderful weekend spent with dear friends!
