These past four days I've spent over at the Santen house. Matt and Stacy decided to pack up and leave for NYC and since they've gone crazy- they left me in charge of their kids. It was a fun filled stay with tons of laughter, a few tears (not mine) and a lot of love. I will sing the praises of the kids for putting up with me and helping me out so much throughout my time there. They truly are a blessing and 9 out of 10 times lend a helping hand, even without being asked. I discovered Will has a secret passion for mopping the floor- which he did everyday. Ben loves to say when asked a question "Probably I would say....". Example: Ben did you like dinner? "Probably I would say no!" Emily has the greatest random ideas: toilet papering stuff is a great way to pass any free time. Last but not least Riley is one competitive guy but push come to shove he has the biggest servant heart!
I love staying with kids (not all kids lol, just the ones I like) while parents on away. It is such a neat learning experience on how families are maintained and work, as well as a wake up call to me that I do NOT have the energy to do this all the time. It is a great reminder that I parent I am not, but a stand in (for a brief time) I can be :)
Back to the toilet paper story. On Saturday after Emily and I went to the high school cheerleading competition with some friends of mine, we were trying to kill those last couple of hours before the parents arrived home. Those are the crucial hours by then the kids are tired of you being around, and you need a nap- asap! Emily gets the bright idea to toilet paper something- we immediately went through our options... 1) the neighbors car 2) the inside of the Santen van or 3) Matt and Stacy's bedroom. OBVIOUSLY our choice was clear- we went for the bedroom--- it was beautiful (seriously it was we did a great job!) I tried to duck out before they saw the room, but Matt went upstairs while I was still gathering my stuff :)
I stole this blog title from my friend Rachel Sawhook (thanks for letting me steal it).

hahaha...how funny! and what a good idea to do something time consuming and fun that you don't have to clean up. although I am sure that was not your intention ;)
I stayed with the Santen kids my fresh year of college and it was a hoot. what a great family:)
HAHA! WOW! I would have loved to see a picture!!! :) How fun! If you decide you "like" our kids...(haha) - you can take a trek down to Charlotte and we'll go somewhere...anywhere... :) I Bet you were exhausted!
