Can someone tell me: What is up with all the ticks?

I must say if I were a kid I would want me to come and hang out while my parents were gone :) That is in fact what I've been doing since Saturday staying with kids while their parents are out of town. Saturday and Sunday I had three precious little ones and now today and tomorrow I have four different ones :) Different as in the kids aren't the same but are still precious. I am thankful that all the kids I've kept while their parents have been gone have always been wonderful and so these four days are not tough by any stretch of the imagination. That is I didn't expect it to be bad until it happened today. I was rubbing on Will's head this afternoon while we chatted on the porch and there is was a bump. I knew what it was as soon as my hand ran over it... I knew it was a TICK!!!!!! While I often think parenting is going to be a snap for me because I've been able to see great parenting skills and tricks of the trade from all the wonderful parents in my community... I realized I am NOT ready for it. If parenting involved removing ticks... I've decided to take my name off the sign up list.
This past Saturday I was at the playground and one of the kids found a tick.... I came over killed it and we all went on. Then a kid at church had one in her hair in the river camp room, the mom calmly removed it and everyone went on with their business. I guess it was only a matter of time before I was bound to keep a kid that had one, I just hoped it would be when I had a husband so then he could do it. Anyways I've successfully removed my first tick, hopefully it will also be my last.
