Good Morning!
Last night we got to hear from a former President of Young Life Bob Mitchell. It was the most amazing time. His passion for this ministry is so inspiring. I could listen to his stories of being around our founder Jim Rayburn and of his experiences all day everyday. Knowing the past offers an inspiring and solid foundation for where we ourselves would like to go in this ministry. This morning I get to hear from Dr. Dale Bruner. He is AMAZING!!!! He has memorized the Gospels and spends his whole day in the library reading. Except when he has to teach classes as a professor in Los Angeles. I heard from him @ the conference briefly but today get to sit at his feet. What captivated me about Dr. Bruner was that although he recited from memory his whole scripture that he was teaching on that day, his love for Christ outshines his knowledge of him. The weather here is a bit cool in the mornings, and well we are in class most of the day so I'm not really sure what it will be like in the afternoon.
Miss you all!
Prayer Requests- 1) My health- my voice is pretty much shot, my throat doesn't hurt though, just that I would have my normal voice back, not this manly thing :)
2) That God would really begin to just let me be a sponge ready and willing to soak up the knowledge and experience here.
I'm reading a book called Silence and Solitude by Ruth Ann Barton and in her book she talks about sitting still and letting things settle. I'll leave you with this idea of being silent and still before God. Not reading, not praying, not journaling just sitting and being still.
" You are like a jar of river water all shaken up. What you need is to sit still long enough that the sediment can settle and the water become clear."
