6 years later...

I went to the Edge last night @ church.  It is the singles group... (enough said!) I have only been twice in my whole time at River Ridge which is what pushing 6 years? Anyways my second go around at the Edge was on the wonderful topic of sex before marriage.  (I know I pick the weird topic to show up for.) Shelly and I made a guest appearance.  It is kind of fitting though. Andy Stanley affirmed what 6 years ago... ALMOST to the month... the Lord asked of me.

In 2005 I went on my first YL summer assignment as a volunteer college student.  In exactly one week I head back to Lake Champion to serve as female head leader for the month.  As I begin to reflect what as transpired since that first trip there I LAUGH, CRY, and REJOICE THAT GOD IS FAITHFUL!

My biggest takeaway in July 2005 was I read a book called "Authentic Beauty" and I did a 180 in how I date (or more accurately how I will not date), and I think the most surprising was how I view opposite sex friendships.  6 years later... (I def thought I'd maybe go one year before meeting the man of my dreams, haha) I have found relationships that have blessed me far beyond anything I feel like marriage could have offered me (at this point in my life).  I have gone from mostly guy friendships to the most rich and beautiful female friendships!   I have healed in ways that I wasn't even aware needed healing.  I began the journey of discovering the most intimate things about the Lord.  Oh my! How He showed me some of the deepest, scariest, unfriendly, beautiful, rich places of my soul through His eyes.

I am so excited to head back to Champion...   6 years later Lord and all I can think about is what is next? Sign me up! I'm in! No matter what it is... there is no other place I'd rather be then in the midst of what you are doing and are going to do!

Adrienne, I love the book Authentic Beauty (and other books by Leslie Ludy). I think I also bought it at Lake Champion in 2005, but I was a camper. It's encouraging to read what you have learned! Hope your time at Champion this month is an amazing blessing!

Adrienne - don't know why I thought of your blog today, but I hope you reread this post and think about what happened to you during your month at LC--God is good isn't He? I hope you visit BVB while I am on assignment in June!
